A colleague of mine said the other day that she tells her significant other to slow down when he's driving. The reason: To avoid an expensive speeding ticket.
Now sure, from time to time we are always monitoring our MPH's to make sure we don't get pulled over. But this colleague explained that now... with finances tightening, she has become far more vigilant.
It got us thinking in the newsroom -- how many other places are we avoiding risky behavior. Maybe we're not joining the softball team because of the possibility of injury.
Conversely, where are we TAKING risk to save money -- like upping insurance deductibles.
